Some of he many Tributes below –

Geoff Grinsted –

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of George Rollinson. George was the starter at Luton for as long as most of us can remember and will have started races for practically everybody that competes or competed for the club prior to Covid.

How good was George at what he did? The mark of a good starter in my book is that you remember your race for your performance and not something the starter did. George was excellent, providing the authoritative lead necessary from a starter whilst taking the time to explain, especially to the younger ones, where they should be and what to do.

RIP George with the heartfelt thanks of everybody at the club for all you did for us.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Rollinson family.

What a fine and respectable man George was. He started many races I was involved in. We would always have a light hearted exchange before the race, which always helped calm the nerves. Another great unsung hero of the club that is now at rest. Sending blessings and comfort to Julie , Ian and family. RIP George.

I worked with George as marksman for many years, in County Championships, County Schools and more Luton AC meetings than I care to mention. I can’t ever remember during all that time, any situation where George made a mistake. He was a great role model to me and taught me so much about some of the tricks of the trade, including a few things athletes would get up to! He always had time for a chat, and even during his later years, came to meeting when his breathing probably told him he should be at home. He didn’t want to let anyone down. When he retired, it left a huge hole in the club. We will all miss his friendly face at home matches. Deepest condolences to Georges’ family.
