In the U13 girls age group, Jaya, in her debut track meet, won gold in the 100m, 200m and a silver in the 800m. Chloe took silver in the 200m and Grace Chapman a bronze, also in the 200m.

The U17 women saw Amy take bronze medals in the 100m and 200m, Gabby medal in 80m hurdles, despite taking a heavy fall in the 100m only a few hours earlier. And there was another club debutant in the 200m, where Natania finished 6th.
The U20 women saw more medals for Luton AC athletes, Uchenna in the 100m and 200m, Ariana in the 100m, Chloe in the 200m, Charise in the 100m hurdles and triple jump and Leah in the 800m.

Jake was the only U13 boy representing Luton AC and came away with a silver medal in the 800m.
In the U15 boys age group, Ashton took silver in the shot and javelin, and won gold in the discus with a PB.
Jake’s brother Nathan, took the U17 800m title, running a PB in the process. The U17 men’s 100m and 200m saw Olly take the sprint double, with Aidan taking bronze medals in both events. Also competing, Prodige (100m) and Dylan (100m/200m) made these strong events for Luton AC.
In the U20 men’s throws, hammer, shot, discus and javelin, Zack took 3 golds and a silver, with 4 PB’s.
And finally on to the senior men. Lee threw a PB in the javelin, and finished 7th in the 100m, in a quality field including 3 internationals, while Joe finished 4th in the 200m. In the field, Dave, Jamie and Geoff set up camp by the hammer cage and just continued to win medal after medal between them in the hammer, discus, javelin and shot.
Great weekend for Luton AC and hopefully we will see even more Luton AC vests competing throughout the season!
Jed wins at the Night of the 10,000m PBs!
(Report with thanks to Marnie McMahon-Adie)
Saturday 14th May was the return of the Night of the 10,000m PBS; an event held annually at Parliament Hill Track since 2013. This is a very prestigious event which since 2014 incorporates the British Championships. And the event was back, bigger than ever, after a two-year break due to Covid.
Luton AC had Jed Noblett making his debut of the 25 laps of the track race. The under 23 athlete ran in the 2nd race of the day. After the gun went off, Jed stayed on the shoulder of the pacemaker until around 11 minutes into the race when the pacer moved wide on the track to allow Jed to take the lead. For the rest of the race Jed pushed on averaging around 73/74 seconds a lap and held around 70 metres between him and the chasing group. At 5000m Jed clocked 15.23, beating his PB by nearly forty seconds!
With under five laps to go the chasing group, headed by Winchester’s George King, began to close down on Jed. By 9000m King had managed to get near to Jed’s shoulder and it looked as though he would overtake. Amazingly Jed picked up the pace and not only held onto the lead but also managed to pull away from King, increasing the distance to forty metres between himself and second spot King. At the bell, Jed sprinted to complete his final lap in under 65 seconds bringing him home in a winning time of 31:14:87, 11 seconds ahead of 2nd placed King. Jed’s time beats his road 10K PB by over 10 seconds.
The Night of the 10,000m PBS is a superb event where spectators stand in lane 3 to cheer on the athletes whist the runners run through 2 beer tents. At the time of writing, the video of the entire day’s events can still be viewed on the British Athletics website. Jed’s race was awe inspiring and it was fantastic to see the Luton AC athlete win after leading the race from lap 1. After watching his gutsy performance I’m looking forward to seeing what other PBs Jed smashes this year.
Jed won his body weight in beer, so the beers are on you Jed!

Some useful information for New Members and Parents
The Stockwood Park track is owned by Luton Council, and is run by Active Luton. Opening times can be found on their web site http://www.activeluton.co.uk/ and the entry fees to the track goes to them (not the club). We have a club room in the front half of the upstairs floor in the track building, including a small canteen which is open whenever we have a volunteer available. You are welcome to wait in the clubhouse while your children are training. There is a limited amount of club information held in the room, including club records, honours board, etc. The club became Luton Athletic Club around 2004, when Luton United amalgamated with Vauxhall AC.
The club is completely run by willing volunteers, and we all have busy day jobs (except for those of us who are retired!). We are always looking for helpers and volunteers, so if you are willing to help in any way, here are some of the areas –
Helping to run the canteen on training evenings and on match days.
Helping to officiate (you will receive training in this, or at least be told what you need to do on the day). It really is not difficult, and can be lots of fun.
Assisting in running teams.
Helping at home matches.
Help on club nights assisting with training, particularly for the younger groups. If anyone is able to help please contact either rosiemcnabola@gmail.com, Alan Daglish or Pat Davis
We very much hope that you and your children will enjoy your time at the club. If you have any questions regarding the running of the club or anything to do with athletics or the club in general, any committee member would be glad to help
